The International Federation of Delirium Societies: iDelirium

About

The impact of delirium has no borders. As a result, solutions to delirium require broad thinking and strong advocacy. Founded in 2015, the International Federation of Delirium Societies (iDelirium) seeks to fill this role by coordinating the message of delirium acoross the world’s professional delirium societies. It serves as a unifying voice for delirium societies with representatives from the American Delirium Society, Australasian Delirium Association and European Delirium Association. iDelirium also serves as the official planning committee for World Delirium Awareness Day.

Mission

Our mission is to increase awareness and understanding of delirium among the general public, healthcare professionals, and policymakers around the globe. We aim to promote early identification and appropriate management of delirium in all healthcare settings, and to advocate for the individuals affected by delirium and their families. We also aim to support and promote research that advances our understanding of delirium and improves prevention, diagnosis, and treatment strategies. By working towards these goals, we hope to improve the lives of individuals affected by delirium and their families, and to reduce the burden of this condition on society.

Vision

Our vision is a world in which delirium is recognized as a serious and potentially life-threatening condition, and where all individuals at risk for delirium receive timely and effective prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Through education and advocacy, we hope to minimize both the risk and impact of delirium for patients and family.
